What is blue moon? Give reason why you call it and hoe it got it

this a rare sight ,this is a phrase "once in a blue moon" meaning seldom seen or experienced.
this came to know at 1883, when a volcano named "krakatoa"(indonesia)
erupted violently.boulders were hurled into the air and the volcano spewed fire and smoke. after few days the village people saw the blue moon.the dust and other particles thrown into the air had blue moon. it took a blue haze.
