Blue Rebellion was a peasant uprising of indigo farmer against indigo plantation.It started in march 1859 in bengal....thus blue rebellion started in bengal.It is called blue rebellion because indigo is used to make blue "dye" which was in demand in Europe that time.

by the late 19th century, farmers preferred to cultivate rice and jute since Indigo was no more a profit making crop. when coerced planters to cultivate indigo, farmers organized a resistance movement in 1859.

The indigo revolt was the indigo farmers' uprising against the indigo planters in 1859. It started in February - March 1859 when the farmers refused to sow a single seedling of indigo plant.
