Blue vitriol is the common name for Copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate (Chemical formula: CuSO4.5H2O). The name is most probably drawn from the common name of Sulfuric acid, "Oil of vitriol", and the blue color of crystalline CuSO4.5H2O. It is also called blue stone, flower of copper, copper vitriol.
