Answer:

BMI, formerly called the Quetelet index, is a measure for indicating nutritional status in adults. It is defined as a person's weight in kilograms divided by the square of the person's height in metres (kg/m2). For example, an adult who weighs 70 kg and whose height is 1.75 m will have a BMI of 22.9.

  1. Body mass index is a value derived from the mass and height of a person. The BMI is defined as the body mass divided by the square of the body height, and is expressed in units of kg/m², resulting from mass in kilograms and height in metres
  2. How is BMI calculated? With the metric system, the formula for BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. Because height is commonly measured in centimeters, divide height in centimeters by 100 to obtain height in meters.
  3. Each BMI value indicate the nourishment status such as under weight, normal weight, over weight & obese. If BMI < 18.5, the person will be considered undernourished. If BMI is between 18.5 & 24.9, the person has a healthy weight.
