according to him in any shell of the atom the maximum number of electron is 2n^2 Where n is the number of orbit. for K shell n = 1 and for L,M,N shell it is 2 3 4 respectively. in first shell or K shell maximum number of electrons will be equal to 2 ×1^2=2 and similarly number of electrons electrons for other shells can be calculated. electrons present in the last shell are known as valence electron and this orbit is known as valence shell.
2) maximum number of electrons in the outermost shell maybe 8(except K shell even if it is the outermost shell, it has only two electrons).
3) the electrons do not start feeling in a given shell unless its inner shell is completely filled. this prove that shells are in sequence.

Hope it helps you.....!! :D
