The boiling point of a liquid is the temperature at which the vapor pressure of a liquid just equals to the pressure exerted on liquid , the atmospheric pressure. At atmospheric pressure of exactly 1 atm, the temperature at which liquid boils is called the normal boiling point. The normal boiling point of water is 100 degree celcius

A liquid at high pressure has a higher boiling point than when that liquid is at atmospheric pressure.
eg, water boils at 100 °C at sea level, but at 93.4 °C at 1,905 m altitude
