Hunsdiecker Reaction is an organic reaction named after a German chemist Heinz Hunsdieckerand Cla¨a¨re Hunsdiecker in 1995. This reaction was further improved by Alexander Porfiryevich Borodin which is now known as Hunsdiecker Reaction and also called as Borodin reaction.
This reaction involves the reaction between silver salts of carboxylic acid with halogens to form an unstable intermediate and undergo decarboxylation thermally to form alkyl halides(Organic halides). This reaction is also called Halogenation reaction.
