The process of sowing seed using hands is known as broadcasting . In this method, the seeds are sprinkled all across the field, and then are lavelled later on using a wooden plank or a harrow. The most common types of crops grown using this method including paddy, wheat, coriander, fenugreek , etc.
Some advantages of this method are :-
● The cheapest and the quickest method of sowing .
● The simplest method of sowing . High-tech farming equipments are not required .
● Complex agricultural implements are not required .
● Skilled farming labour is not required .
Some disadvantages of this method are :-
● Seeds do not get distributed uniformly .
● Crop stand Gate non-uniform due to uneven distribution of seed .
● Some of the seeds do not germinate, as they get sown in lesser moist areas, or remain improperly sown.
● Some seeds do not get sown at the right depth and thus either fail to germinate or get picked by birds .
