Buccal cavity is opening of alimentary canal which  leads to the pharynx and to the oesophagus.

A buccal cavity is usually in the groove going from between the cusps (points) on the molar and the gum line on the surface that faces the cheek. So a Buccal cavity refers to the place the cavity is located not the type or severity of the cavity.
