It is a spherical,crystalline allotropic form of carbon which has 60 atoms.Since there are 60 carbon atoms in a molecule of buckminster fullerine,so its formula is  C_{60} .It is a football shaped spherical molecule with 60 carbon atoms arranged in interlocking hexagonal and pentagonal rings of carbon atoms. It has its various family members.

Well actually C60 is a very primitive and basic form of Buckminster fullerene . The structure can also form substantially longer chains and form more complex geodesic structures when subjected to the right conditions.
