its more of a theory than a religilon. a theory that says that all pain and suffering can be avoided if we have no attachment to anything. we all know started by siddhartha gautama but the present buddism was mixed wid various other religions around asia.

Vedic philosophy had lost it's original importance
Vedic religion become very complex and degenerated into suprestitions, dogmas, and rituals
supremacy of brahmans created unrest in society and kshatriya reacted against the brahmanical domination
and the desire of vaishyas to improve their position resulted in formation of a new ideology
Buddhism was formed by gautama the Buddha who was born in 563BC and the first Buddhist council was held in 483BC at sattapanni cave near Rajagrih

that follow four Nobel truth
1- the world is full of sorrow
2- desire is root cause of sorrow
3- if desire is conquered, all sorrow can be removed
4- desire can be removed by following eight fold paths
eight fold paths are
right understanding
right speech
right livelihood
right mindfulness
right thoughts
right action
right effort
right concentration

this is all what I know about Buddhism
thanks
