Buffer Stock:
It is a stock of food grains, namely wheat and rice produced by the government through Food Corporation of India (FCI).
The reasons for created buffer stocks are-
•The first reason for this is that to the problem of shortage of food arising due to adverse weather conditions like drought or too much fun of rains.
•This is done to face the shortage of food in any part of the country which is affected by any calamity such as tsunamis, earthquakes,etc.
•This stock is also used to help the poor strata at a price lower than the market price.
