What is C language? Who developed it?

Computer programming C language was invented by Dennis Ritchie between 1969 and 1973. ... Ritchie, along with coworker Ken Thompson, established the Unix System, which earned them the ACM Turing Award in 1983. Both C language and Unix became foundations for modern computer operating systems.
