Photorespiration. Photorespiration is a wasteful pathway that competes with the Calvin cycle. It begins when rubisco acts on oxygen instead of carbon dioxide.

here is your appropriate answer.

Basically

Photorespiration is also known as oxidative photosynthetic C2 cycle.

so,,, we can define Photorespiration and C2 Cycle as a phenomenon in which there is no formation of ATP or NADPH, but there is utilization of ATP with release of CO2. It is also considered a wasteful process.

There is no difference between Photorespiration and C2 Cycle. Photorespiration is a light-dependent process and also it is a salvage pathway for 2-phosphoglycolate (2-PG), which is the product of the oxygenase activity of RubisCO or ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase, to the C3 cycle or Calvin cycle intermediate phosphoglycerate.
