CAA - Citizenship Amendment Act.

  • Citizenship Amendment Act which is now a bill stating that illegal migrants who belong to Hindu, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist and Christian religion would be granted Indian Citizenship.
  • The cut-off date for citizenship is 31 December 2014 and the people who have entered India on or before the particular date would come under the category.
  • The bill does not protect all the people from different religions as Muslims, Christian Tamils, Shias, etc. are not included in it.
  • When this act is seen with NRC, it poses a lot of issues and due to that, protests are going on all over the country.
