CaCO3 is Calcium Carbonate.

  • It is found in nature in the form of limestone, chalk, marble ect.
  • It is white fluffy powder.
  • It is almost insoluble in water.
  • It can be prepared by pasing CO2 through slaked lime also called Calcium Hydroxide Ca(OH)2 or by addition of Sodium Carbonate to calcium chloride.

Uses

  • it is used in building materials in the form of marbles and manufacturing quicklime.
  • It is used in manufacturing paper
  • used tooth paste, chewing gums & filler of cosmetics

Calcium carbonate is a dietary supplement used when the amount of calcium taken in the diet is not enough. Calcium is needed by the body for healthy bones, muscles, nervous system, and heart.

 Calcium carbonate also is used as an antacid to relieve heartburn, acid indigestion, and upset stomach.
