Calcination is the process which ore is heating in the absence of air . As a results of calcination carbonate ore is converted into its oxide .

Calcination is the process of concentration of ore by converting it to respective oxide by heating the ore below its melting point in the absence of air to remove volatile impurities. Usually the sulphide ores is converted to oxide before reduction.
