Calcination :- Calcination is a process for concentration of Carbonate ore. It involves heating of Carbonate ore in  absence of Oxygen. In this process CO₂ is released and metal is obtained.

For Ex :- ZnCO₃ ⇒ ZnO + CO₂

Roasting :- Roasting is a process for concentration of Sulphide Ore. It involves heating of Sulphide ore in presence of oxygen. In this process SO₂ gas is released and metal oxide is obtained.

Ex :- ZnS + O₂ ⇒ ZnO + SO₂

Hope it helps
