Earth wires are the wires that are present in heavy devices such as Coolers , TV , Iron etc. These wires are made of copper or aluminium. When the live wire touches the metallic casing of the electrical appliance like iron , the current starts flowing in metallic casing also. This can give a shock to the person using the appliance. Hence , earth wire transfer this current of metallic ring to earth (Zamin) and avoids the shocks.
