A geosynchronous satellite is asatellite in geosynchronous orbit, with an orbital period the same as the Earth's rotation period. Such a satellitereturns to the same position in the sky after each sidereal day, and over the course of a day traces out a path in the sky that is typically some form of analemma.

Answer:

  • a settlite revolving in Earth orbit 35780 km above the Earth's surface, takes 24 hours to complete one revolution.
  • the earth also takes 24 hours to complete one revolution.
  • if the satellite is revolving in Orbit parallel to the equator ,the time of revolution for the earth around itself and that for the satellite to revolve around the earth in the same, the satellite will appear to be stationary with respect to the earth.
  • the satellite are called geosynchronous satellite
