when Turkey was defeated by the allied powers during World War 1. the Indian Muslim became apprehensive of the feet of Turkey and its Sultan was also the Halifa or the religious head of the Muslim all over the world. the Muslim therefore form 10 Khilafat committee under the leadership of the I'll be brothers Maulana Muhammad Ali and Shaukat Ali and other leaders like Maulana Azad.

The Khilafat movement (1919-1924) was an agitation by Indian Muslims allied with Indian nationalism in the years following World War I.
