The velocity of an object is the rate of change of its position with respect to a frame of reference, and is a function of time. Velocity is equivalent to a specification of an object's speed and direction of motion (e.g. 60 km/h to the north).

Other units: mph, ft/s

In SI base units: m/s

Velocity is the displacement travelled by an object in unit time. SI unit of velocity is m/s. It is a vector quantity.

Velocity = Displacement of object

Time taken

Displacement:- The shortest line path between initial and final position.

Vector quantity :- Vector is a quantity which has both magnitude and direction. Example:- force, displacement, velocity, acceleration etc.
