Answer:

The calorific value of fuel can be defined as the amount of heat produced by the complete combustion of one unit of any fuel. The unit depends upon the type of fuel; for example, coal is a solid fuel, so it is measured in weight units, whereas we use volume units for any gaseous or liquid fuel.

Answer:

Calorific value is the amount of heat energy present in food or fuel and which is determined by the complete combustion of specified quantity at constant pressure and in normal conditions. It is also called calorific power. The unit of calorific value is kilojoule per kilogram i.e. KJ/Kg.

Calorific value is defined as the amount of calories generated when a unit amount of substance is completely oxidized and is determined using the bomb calorimeter. The calorific value of coal represents gross calorific value (HG), which contains the latent heat of water vaporization.

Example. Calorific Value of Petrol is 45000 KJ/Kg. It means if 1 Kg of Petrol is completely combusted,it will produce 45000 Kilojoules of heat energy
