What is calorific value of fuel? Why is hydrogen not used as a fuel though it has the highest calorific value?

dakshchaudhary1: calorific value -the energy contained in a fuel or food, determined by measuring the heat produced by the complete combustion of a specified quantity of it. This is now usually expressed in joules per kilogram

Calorific Value :- Amount of heat energy released (in J) when 1 kg of a fuel is burnt.
Hydrogen is not used as fuel because it is explosive in nature.

Hey mate! Hope you are having a good day.

The answer to your question is...

  • Calorific value is the amount of heat produced when a gram of substance is burnt. It is measured in kilo jules.
  • Hydrogen is not used as a domestic fuel as it cant be transported easily.
  • it catches fire easily.
  • it is inflammable
  • thus, it is only use when it is necessary, for example it is used as rocket fuel.
