Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that is slightly less dense than air. It is toxic to hemoglobicanimals (including humans) when encountered in concentrations above about 35 ppm, although it is also produced in normal animal metabolism in low quantities, and is thought to have some normal biological functions. In the atmosphere, it is spatially variable and short lived, having a role in the formation of ground-level ozone.
Carbon monoxide consists of one carbonatom and one oxygen atom, connected by atriple bond that consists of two covalent bonds as well as one dative covalent bond.[5]It is the simplest oxocarbon and isisoelectronic with the cyanide anion, thenitrosonium cation and molecular nitrogen. Incoordination complexes the carbon monoxideligand is called carbonyl.

Carbon monoxide
Carbon monoxide is colorless, tasteless gas with faint odour. It is extremely poisonous in nature. It is an air pollutant. It is formed by the incomplete combustion of carbonaceous matter. One part of CO in 800 parts of air will cause death in thirty minutes. It combines haemoglobin , present in the blood to form carboxyheamoglobin. Carboxyheamoglobin is a cherry red colored compound and is unfit for renders haemoglobin unfit for carrying oxygen which causes death.
