CaSO4.7H20 is actually a hydrated chemical compound of normal CaSO4 or calcium sulfate.

Some chemical compounds are able to absorb the moisture from the surrounding's atmosphere.

After absorbing the water molecules,the water molecules are just added after the chemical formula of that compound with the number of water molecules in a single atom.

Similarly,CaSO4.7H2O is an example of such water absorbing chemical compound.

The chemical name of this compound is;

Calcium sulfate,Heptahydrate. (Hept=7)
