When you start off in Castle Age for the first time, you’re told that you are returning to a land that’s being torn apart by battle and are asked to aid one of the four people that are being attacked by vicious monsters. The key thing to remember here is that these four different people are actually different classes and the person you decide to help out will also be the class that your character will get so it’s worthwhile to think this decision through so you get a class that’s according to your play-style. The first few minutes of the game consist of step-by-step tutorial quests that’ll guide you through all the necessary basics of the game within a matter of minutes which is great.
The main attraction of Castle Age is of course the amount things that you can do in the game. The first thing that you’ll see in the game is that the amount of quests is insane and you can essentially keep on doing quests 24/7 without running out of them. The best part about the quests is that they aren’t repetitive and offer quite generous reward.
The combat of the game revolves around many different variables such as your gear, your opponent’s gear, what class you are and what build you’ve chosen for your character and if you’re better than these opponents in these aspects or outmatch him, you will win the duel but if not you’ll lose. There’s a lot of exploring to do as well because the central town has a lot of different places for you to explore such as shops and such. Lastly, perhaps one of the most unique features about Castle Age is the fact that you’re actually able to buy various different units that you can utilize to either fight for you in large scale duels or to defend your property, this is a nice feature that gives the game a bit of uniqueness of its own.
Going into the visuals, considering the fact that this is after all a text based and browser based game there’s not much to say in the department. However, it’s worth noting that the presentation of the game such as user-interface and such is quite nicely done and makes the game pleasing to look at.
