Catabolic processes break down complex compounds and molecules to release energy. This creates the metabolic cycle, where anabolism then creates other molecules that catabolism breaks down, many of which remain in the organism to be used again.

Catabolism :-

Catabolic reactions are those in which the molecules are broken down & energy is released .

Ex :- The breakdown of food during digestion

Anabolism :-

Anabolic reactions are those in which energy is utilised to combine smaller molecules to yield larger and more complex molecules .

Ex :- Photosynthesis
