What is a Catalyst?

A catalyst is a substance that speeds up a chemical reaction, but is not consumed by the reaction; hence a catalyst can be recovered chemically unchanged at the end of the reaction it has been used to speed up, or catalyze.

A catalyst of potassium permanganate can be used to speed up this process.

Enzymes are proteins that act as catalysts within living cells

catalyst is a substance which can alter the rate of chemical reaction without itself undergoing any change in mass and chemical composition at the end of the reaction and the phenomenon is known as catalysis.
e.g.k2Cr2O7
enzyme are the protein which accelerates the biochemical reaction occur in human body and hence are also called bio-catalyst
