Catalyst is a substance that is put to a chemical reaction to increase the rate of the reaction without itself undergoing any chemical change or being used up.

Therefore when the catalyst is present in a reaction medium the reaction will speed up in producing products and completing the reaction. At the end the catalyst will remain in the same amount present, except/unless if the reactant itself is a catalyst.
