Cell is the structural and functional unit of life. 

Robert Hooke discovered the cell in 1665.

He prepared a thin slice of cork and observe it under self made microscope. He saw some boxes like structure which he named cell.

→ A living cell can perform all life functions with the help of it's component. Therefore cell is called functional unit of life.

→ All living organisms are made of cell. That's why structural unit of life.

Cell is the basis structural and functional unit of life. Every living body is made up of cell. Cell is a Latin word which means small room.

Cell is known as structural unit of life because when many cells combine together they form a structure therefore, it is known as structural and every cell has some own function and combinely they do the main function to sustain life therefore, it is known as functional unit of life

Cell was first discover by Robert hook in 1665.

When is observed a thin slice of Cork under his primitive microscope he found that it consist of small building block.
