Cells are the basic unit of life. Every living organism , from the simplest micro-organism to the most complicated plants or animals are made up of cells. A cell has these parts in common :

a) Cell membrane or plasma membrane : an outer covering that separates the cell's interior from its surrounding environment.

b) Cytoplasm : a jelly-like substance within the cell in which other small small structures called cell organells are found.

c) Ribosomes :  where protein synthesis occurs.

d) DNA : the genetic (heriditery material)  material of the cell.

e) Nucleus : It controls the reproduction and and growth in a cell. It is the most important part of a cell.
