1. In dividing cells, an individual cell passes through four phases.

2.  $G_{1}$ is a resting phase.

3. In S phase, DNA synthesis takes place.

4. In $G_{2}$ phase again resting phase following DNA synthesis.

5. These  $G_{1}$ , S,  $G_{2}$ constitute interphase, while the main mitotic division takes place during M phase
