A cell is the structural or functional unit of life. All cells are similar in their basic structure and functions but are not identical. They differ in size and structure.

Unicellular organisms :-

They have a single cell.

The size of cell is small (1-5 μm)

A singl cell is capabale of performing all the life processes.

Cell division occurs by fission or budding.

Their life span is very short.

Any injury to a cell can cause the death of an organism.

Multicellular organism :-

They consists of many cells.

The size of cell is large (5-100 μm)

A single cell carries out one or few process.

Cell division occurs by mitosis or meiosis while the other cells remain intact.

Their life span is very long.

Injury or damage to some cells do not affect the organism as the affected cells are replaced with the new ones.
