Cell division is the process by which a parent celldivides into two or more daughter cells. Cell division usually occurs as part of a larger cellcycle. ... Both of these cell division cycles are used in the process of sexual reproduction at some point in their life cycle.

An important characteristic of living beings is the capacity to reproduce. Cells do so. Cells arise only from other cells by a process called cell division.

Most cells are capable of growing and splitting into similar cells. the cells so produced are called the daughter cells. they are identical to the mother cell.

During the formation of daughter cells, the nucleus of the mother cell divides into two, so that each daughter cell gets one nucleus each. This is it is followed by division of cytoplasm. Finally two daughter cells are formed. this mode of division is exhibited by amoeba, unicellular organism.
