cell division is the process in which cell replicates its DNA and divides into daughter cell

Explanation:

cell division is of two types

1. Mitosis :In this parent cell divides into two daughters cells (In humans no. of chromosomes are 46 in no.)

This division occurs on germ cells

2. Somatic cells : In this, parent cells is divided into four daughter cells

An important characteristic of living beings is the capacity to reproduce. Cells do so. Cells arise only from other cells by a process called cell division.

Most cells are capable of growing and splitting into similar cells. the cells so produced are called the daughter cells. they are identical to the mother cell.

During the formation of daughter cells, the nucleus of the mother cell divides into two, so that each daughter cell gets one nucleus each. This is it is followed by division of cytoplasm. Finally two daughter cells are formed. this mode of division is exhibited by amoeba, unicellular organism.
