Cell Division:

As we know that the process by which new cells are made is called cell division.

Following are two types of cell divisions:-

Mitosis:-

  • As we know that the process of cell division by which most of the cells divide for growth is called Mitosis.
  • In this process, each cell called the mother cell divides to form two identical daughter cells.
  • And the daughter cells have the same number of chromosomes as the mother cell. It helps in the growth and repair of tissues in organisms.

Meiosis :-

  • As we know that the Specific cells of reproductive organs devices you a different process called Meiosis, which involves two consecutive divisions.
  • when a cell divides by Meiosis it produces four new cells instead of just two.
  • And the new cells have half the number of chromosomes than that of the mother cells.

Cell division is a process in which a parent cell divides and forms daughter cells.

There are two types of cell division namely mitosis and meiosis.

  • Mitosis: It is equational division. The amount of DNA in the mother and daughter cells is equal.

Mitosis contributes significantly in cell repair.

  • Meiosis: It is reductional division. The amount of DNA in the daughter cell is half that of the mother cell.

Meiosis increases genetic variability in a population.
