cell membrane is nothing but is a biological membrane. it separates interior cells from the outside the environment. it contains lipids which is embedded in proteins. the most basic function of cell membrane is to protect the cells from the surrounding. and it also controls the movement of substances. it is discovered by Robert Hooke. IT DOES PASSIVE OSMOSIS AND DIFFUSION. they are transporters of proteins. they come under a process namely. Endocytosis , Exocytosis. it is made up of phospholipid and proteins and are typically described phospholipid bi layers. thats all.            hope it helps.\
