Cellular respiration is a set of metabolic reactions and processes that take place in the cells of organisms to convert biochemical energy from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and then release waste products.

Basically, cellular respiration means converting food molecules into energy(in the form of ATP) through chemical reaction which needs oxygen for breaking up this food molecules.

Suppose, when we do exercises or any kind of physical activity which requires energy. Then this energy is used up by our cells for that particular physical ,where this energy came from?

This energy came from breaking down of food molecules by our cells with the help of oxygen(this process is known as aerobic respiration) and this oxygen is taken by our lungs when we inhale.Later on this is transfered in different parts of our body with the help of heart( works as a pump).
