Centrifugation is a technique which involves the application of centrifugal force to separate particles from a solution according to their size, shape, density, viscosity of the medium and rotor speed. This process is used to separate two miscible substances, but also to analyze the hydrodynamic properties of macromolecules.

Applications
Separating chalk powder from water

Removing fat from milk to produce skimmed milk

Separating particles from an air-flow using cyclonic separation

The process of separation of denser particles from lighter particles is called centrifugation.
When mixture is rotated very fast, then denser particles are forced at the bottom and lighter particles stay above.
Applications:
1. Used in diagnostic labs for blood and urine tests.
2. Used in dairies and home to separate butter from cream.
Hope it help you.
