When a particle moves on a circular path in any motion(with constant speed or variable speed w.r.t to time) ,then it shows an acceleration, this acceleration arises because of a force directed towards the centre of curvature of path this force is known as centripetal  force. But this particle do not move toward the centre it means a force is works opposite to centripetal force and this force is known as centrifugal force.
