Centrosomes are present only in animal cells and are found near the nucleus. They are not membrane bound. Centrosomes are represented by an area of clear cytoplasm containing two cylindrical bodies positioned at right angles to each other. These cylindrical bodies are called centrioles. Centrosomes help in the formation of spindle fibres during cell division.
