Body cavity which is lined by mesoderm is called coelom. It is the cavity between body wall and gut . It's function is to protect internal organs from shock . Animals possessing coelom are called Coelomates ex annelids, molluscs, arthropods, echinoderms, hemichordate, chordates. In some animals the body cavity is not lined by mesoderm , instead of mesoderm there are scattered pouches between ectoderm and endpderm such body cavity is called pseudocoelom and animals possessing them are called pseudocoelomates ex aschelminthes.
