The molecules which have same molecular formula but different parent chain are called chain isomers. For eg. n-Butane, 2-methylpropane

Chain Isomers also called
1. Nuclear isomerism
2. skeletal isomerism

CHAIN ISOMERS have same molecular formula but differ in order in which carbon atoms are bonded to each other!!

These type of isomerism is due to difference in the arrangement of carbon atom that is straight or branched chain of carbon atom

hope it helps
