Hi friend...
Chemical equations are illustrations of the reactants and products in a chemical reaction. Chemical equations are expressed as A + B -> C, where A and B are the reactants, and C is the product.
hope this helps u...

when we do a chemical reaction in a lab practically, we can even represent it theoretically with symbols and representative letters for chemicals.
when we do it,we obtain a line of equation which is called a chemical equation.
it is simply a symbolic representation of a reaction .
for example :we react sodium and water,
sodium has representation (Na) and water (H20)
2Na + 2H20 --------->2 NaOH + H2
will be the chemical reaction .
also ,the chemical reaction must be balanced because ,according to the law of conservation of mass which states that a mass can neither be destroyed or created during a reaction.so we must balance the number of atoms on both the sides equally.
hope it helps!!!!
