chipko movement was started in 1970 and the incident took place in a village named reins in Garhwali; in the Himalayas. When the men were out of work, the conductor told them to cut down the trees. The workers did as the conductor had to them to do. But the women took their prime to save the trees and what they did was so amazing. The women's started to hug the trees in order to save the trees from being cut. This incident was commonly called as the Chipko Movement. The key women leaders of this movement were:-
