Heyaa there..!!
--------
When we pass the aqueous solution of NaCl(sodium chloride) called brine through an electricity. It forms NaOH(sodium Chloride), hydrogen and chlorine . This is known as chlor-alkali process. As the name suggests chlor for chlorine and alkali for sodium hydroxide.
Where, Hydrogen gets off at cathode and chlorine at anode and NaOH near cathode.
Uses of Hydrogen formed: for cleaning metals, ammonium
NaOH: in detergents and soaps
Chlorine: for bleaching fabric and in household bleach
Reaction : NaCl+H2O -->NaOH + Cl2 +H2

Hope it helps u...!!! :)
