The chloralkali (chlor-alkali) process is an industrial process which is used in the electrolysis of NaCl. This process is used in the production of Chlorine and NaOH (sodium hydroxide/caustic soda), which are important chemicals used in the chemical industries

When electricity is passed through Aqueous Solution of Sodium Chloride ....it The products formed are chloride and Sodium Hydroxide.... chlor for chlorine and alkali for sodium hydroxide... hence it is chlor alkali process
