it is a type of process in which the chlorine gasis formed by the NaCl solution by passing electricity through it which is known as electrolises to form NaOH

when electricity is passed through an aqueous solution of sodium chloride (called brine) it decomposes to form Sodium Hydroxide the process is called the chlor alkali process because the product formed chlor for chlorine and alkali for Sodium Hydroxide
