When electricity is passed through brine , it decomposes to form Sodium hydroxide , chlorine and hydrogen . This reaction is known as Chloro-alkali process. (note that brine is the aq. solution of sodium chlorine )

2NaCl +2H2O ===== 2NAOH + Cl2 + H2

HEY MATE
In the reaction , i.e. electrolysis of sodium chloride, an alkali (NaOH) is formed and chlorine gas is evolved because of which it is called chlor alkali process.
2NaCl+2H2O-->2NaOH +Cl2+H2
Gas liberated by : 1)Anode =chlorine
2)Cathode=Hydrogen

Hope it helps you!!!
